"to talk turkey"

The phrase "to talk turkey" ("to talk turkey") usually means "to speak frankly". The idiom would perhaps not be used so often if there were an awareness that it originated with white settlers in North America who cheated the Native Americans. Therefore, in the foreseeable future, this website will be given a different name, which is not colonnalistic.

"to talk turkey"

Die Redewendung "über den Truthahn reden" ( "Tacheles reden") bedeutet in der Regel "offen sprechen". Die Redewendung würde vielleicht nicht so oft verwendet, wenn das Bewusstsein vorhanden wäre, dass sie von weißen Siedlern in Nordamerika stammt, welche die amerikanischen Ureinwohner betrogen haben. Daher wird diese Website in absehbarer Zeit einen anderen Namen erhalten, welcher nicht kolonnalistisch geprägt ist.
